A microfinance institution based in Negros Occidental, PI is committed to working with communities in pursuit of local economic development. A mono-crop sugar-based economy, Negros Occidental’s socio-economic systems are characterized by great inequality between powerful landowners and farmworkers and small family-based farmers. It is also one of the provinces with the highest incidence and worst forms of child labor. To address this problem, an alternative learning system is offered to the child laborers, which is complemented by livelihood assistance for the parents of child laborers. The additional capital that you contribute will be used as a microenterprise loan directed towards the households of child laborers. The aim of the microfinancing is to enable households to open up or expand their mix of livelihood strategies and thereby, over time, reduce the pressure upon children to leave education and enter the workforce. Samples of the enterprises include vending fish or vegetables, raising small livestock and small-scale vending of cooked foodstuffs.

ASKI is an organization committed to the holistic development of micro-entrepreneurs. It has been in the microfinance industry for 22 years now, serving more than 58,000 clients covering nine (9) provinces in regions I, II and III. It needs funding for its branch in Guimba, Nueva Ecija. One of the members from this branch is a mother of 7. This mother started her business selling accessories. Over they years, she slowly grew her business, while venturing into new business activities as well. She now owns two tricycles, six engines used for the field, two hand tractors, and a four hectare field. Your contribution will be used as enterprise loans for her and other ASKI members from the Guimba branch.

ASKI is an organization committed to the holistic development of micro-entrepreneurs. It has been in the microfinance industry for 22 years now, serving more than 58,000 clients covering nine (9) provinces in regions I, II and III. It needs funding to support its operations in the municipality of Baler, Aurora. Baler is a 2nd class municipality located 230 kilometers Northeast of Manila. One of the members who reside in the area is a 55 year old mother of five. She initially managed a sari-sari store, but through a loan with ASKI, was able to buy raw materials to start a handicrafts business. Among her products are bags, accessories and furniture displays made of sabutan, a crop found only in Aurora. Creating her own designs, the uniqueness of her products brought her to participate in various trade fairs, locally and abroad. As her business grows, this ASKI client hopes to have her own store where she can display her products. The capital you contribute will be used as a microenterprise loan for other clients like her in Baler.
Ad Jesum Development Foundation, Inc. (AJDFI) – Governor Generoso Branch

Established 12 years ago, AJDFI has served 30,936 clients residing in remote areas of Davao Region. AJDFI needs funding to support the operations of its branch in Governor Generoso, a 3rd class municipality in the province of Davao Oriental which is heavily dependent on the fishing and aquatic industry. One of the clients of AJDFI served by the Governor Generoso branch is Bevelyn T. Codilla, 36 years old, married with one child. She has been involved in fishing and fish trading activities since 1996. Fish caught are delivered and sold to the fish vendors in the big markets of Davao City, Tagum City and Panabo City. Bevelyn started out with nothing. But with the capital assistance and services provided by AJDFI, her living condition has gradually improved. The additional capital that you contribute will be used as a microenterprise loan to Bevelyn and others like her in the community.

AJDFI is committed to delivering microfinance and social development services to hard-to-reach areas in the Davao region. One such area is the Golden Place Center located in Sitio Piasusuan, Brgy. Napnapan, Pantukan, Province of Compostela Valley. The community is accessible only by motorcycle which must maneuver sloping hills and slippery roads. AJDFI’s Pantukan branch has 4 other centers with a total of 314 members. Most of the members are engaged in upland farming activities, producing crops such as corn, squash, and tomatoes. Beans and livestock production are also common activities of these households. Lolito P. Nacion is an example of one of AJDFI’s successful clients from the area. He has been into hilly corn production since 1998. His dream of expanding his farmland became a reality when he became a member of the Foundation. From 1 hectare he now owns 8 hectares for his corn production. He has also extended his enterprise into farm financing and buying and selling of community-produced crops. The capital you provide will be used as financial assistance to expand the enterprises of clients belonging to the Pantukan branch.
Nueva Segovia Consortium of Cooperatives (NSCC)

NSCC serves a community in Cervantes, Ilocos Sur. Cervantes is a 4th class upland municipality, requiring 4 hours of travel from Vigan City. There is no public transportation to the area and roads are not passable for private cars and vehicles. Most of the residents are engaged in agriculture and backyard enterprises (hog and livestock raising). Soft broom production is also being developed in the area. The capital you contribute will be used to provide microenterprise loans for its members, so they can have a source of income.
Kaanib Foundation, Inc.

Business: Vegetable Production and Trading

Loan purpose: Trading Capital
Kaanib is working with 70 farmers in Impasug-ong for the production of vegetables. It is in fact in the process of test-producing supply for a certain fast food chain. Aside from continuing to help Kaanib find buyers, the capital you provide will benefit the farmers by bridging the 2-3 week lag time between product delivery and the buyer’s payment. This would encourage more farmers to participate in Kaanib’s programs and get higher prices for their produce, instead of selling their crops to traders who pay cash upon delivery, but at a much lower price.
